Solo exhibition: Physical Meditation

Physical Meditation, the name of the exhibition, came about when Si Jie witnessed how Tibetans pray in the monastery during her trip to the Tibetan Plateau. It is a very physical motion and at one point, their whole body lies flat on their stomach on the floor. It prompted her to think about the length she would go as an artist to voice out her unique perspective and role she plays in the modern world. As an artist who inserts herself in the shoes of the locals during her travels and jots down the contradictories of life, she observes the heartbreaks, absorbs the discriminations and quietly debunks myths and stereotypes that still circulate around.

Venue: Hin Bus Depot, Penang, Malaysia.
Exhibition Period: January 6 – February 4, 2018.
